Tracking ROI in Online Marketing CIM Seminar

Yesterday (Thursday 20th September 2007), Eviser went to a seminar organised by The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) on the subject of Tracking ROI in Online Marketing and Analytics.

The seminar was taken by Andrew Hood, Managing Director Lynchpin Analytics. Even though Andrew is only in his mid-twenties, he definitely knows his stuff and you could see that he is passionate about the subject of website analytics, as a Managing Director of a company of Lynchpin's stature should! He was an engaging talker and didn't get too bogged down by the technical side of analytics making it enjoyable while still making sense and being technically accurate.

The majority of what was said regarding online analytics is what we preach to our clients (which as we were there with two of them is a relief). Andrew talked about the differences between the statistics available, Hits, page views, unique visitors, etc. (as can be seen on Eviser's Web Statistics page); Andrew also made the important point that having all of this data is entirely useless unless you take the action that the analytics indicate should be taken.

Eviser understands that the online world is constantly being updated and changed, and therefore it is important for us to attend seminars such as this, as it shows that we are still up-to-date and offering our customers the service that is expected of us.

Overall, the seminar was enjoyable and if you have a chance to see Andrew talk on this subject, then I would urge you to do so, even if you are fluent in online analytics.
